The most overqualified crew in Bridal
The Wedding Dresser is a collective of Brooklyn based fashion and costume pros who alter our dresses and build our accessories to support their own design work. What sets our crew apart is that all of our dressmakers and tailors have the skill to make your gown from scratch. Allow me to introduce them:
AVELINO ALFRED (Prospect Lefferts Garden) Dressmaker/Tailor
Avellino splits his time between altering our dresses and working as the on site tailor for Brooks Brothers fitting models for their print and TV advertising. Avellino also makes custom suits and dresses at his studio Avellino Tailoring. See his work on Instagram @TailoredbyAvellino
NANCY GIALLOMBARDO ( Midwood) Dressmaker Dressmaker
Nancy designs a line of dresses and sportswear that is sold at local boutiques including Otto in Park Slope. She also makes samples for other fashion companies and custom dresses
SCHUYLER GRANT (Dyker Heights) Fitter/Workroom Supervisor
Schuyler is a graduate of FIT's Bridal and Evening Wear Design program who started with us as an intern. He fits and styles our Brides and makes all of the patterns for our custom work and the Susan Spring line of accessories.
GUILLERMO IRIAS (Bushwick) Designer/ Dressmaker
Guillermo is a fashion designer from Honduras. He will be showing his line for the first time this fall at New York Fashion Week. Guillermo also teaches pattern drafting at the Parson's School of Design. See more of his designs for men and women at Gianewyork.com
STACIE HOULKER (Long Island City) Stylist/Dresser
Stacie Houlker is a freelance fashion stylist and creative consultant specializing in bridal. She is known for her elegant and sophisticated style. Her work spans bridal styling, commercials, print advertising, celebrity styling, and fashion editorial and creative consultant to emerging brands. ELAINE LIM KAWSEK (Downtown) Fitting/Alterations Intern
Elaine is completely overqualified as she has a degree in Clothing Technology from the University of Philippine and one in fashion design from Parsons School of Design. She most recently worked as a designer for the Ronni Nicole Group. Elaine plans to open a Bridal Salon back home in the Philippines.
GLORIA SEGOVIA (Brooklyn) Couture Techniques Intern
Gloria studied law and business administration in her native MAdrid where she worked as a lawyer. After planning her own wedding Gloria fell in love with all things Bridal. She moved to Cuba where she worked at a resort as a wedding planner. She now divides her time between interning with a Wedding Planner and doing amazing handwork and beading in our studio.
SABINA USKENOVA (Downtown) Fitting/Design Intern
Sabina first studied at the Khazak University of Business. She then moved to Milan where she studied fashion design at the Instituta Manangoni. She moved to New York to start her own line in the world's fashion capital. She designs beautiful dresses under her label So You Dare. Watch for her store coming soon on Etsy.com
SUSAN RUDDIE Owner/Designer
Susan Ruddie has worked for 25 years as a costume designer, costume director, milliner and textile artist. Susan's designs have toured the world with The Mark Morris Dance Group. She has designed off broadway plays, musicals, ballets and operas. Recent work includes the 25th anniversary national tour of Evita directed by Hal Prince, national tours of Fiddler in the Roof. and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat starring Patrick Cassidy; and a production of The Sound of Music which was the first Broadway musical to tour mainland China. Some of her favorites to dress have include Faith Prince, Martin Short, John Pizzarelli, Meryl Streep, Baryshnikov and Mark Morris. She ran the workroom for Grace Costumes and Eric Winterling Costumes where she supervised the construction of costumes for shows including Little Mermaid, Wicked, and Phantom. Susan has dyed and painted costumes for Broadway, operas, ballets, Ringling Bros. Circus, and vegas shows. Susan's talent for working with feathers comes from years of making headdresses for the Radio City Rockettes.
Susan has worked in Bridal for over 10 years designing custom dresses and accessories, as a buyer, in sales, and in the fitting department at the infamous Kleinfeld. Susan launched her first accessories line under the label Susee Human. Her hats and hair accessories were featured in Elle, on the cover of WWD, and on the runway for Patricia Underwood, Marc Jacobs, Williwear and Isaac Mizrahi. Pieces from her new collection Accessories by The Wedding Dresser have been featured in The Knot, Brides Magazine, and on numerous blogs including Style Me Pretty.

Clients include The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Hearst Magazines, Discover Magazine, and Ziff Davis Publishing. His designs have been honored by The New York Art DIrectors Club, The American Institute of Graphic Arts and has been featured in many publications including Graphis and Folio magazines.
